Looking after your dog involves various regular checks:
- Any sign or fleas or ticks?
- Do nails (claws) need trimming?
- Are paw pads in good condition, free from seeds, thorns and other irritants?
- Do the ears look normal, not overly pink or smelly?
- Any unusual lumps?
Then of course there’s regular grooming to remove loose and dead hair. This is also great for bonding, and for checking the dog’s body for any changes.
Spay & Castration
We would never recommend neutering a dog that is under two years old.
Be aware of the following conditions:
- In unspayed bitches, pyometra, a serious, life-threatening infection of the uterus.
- In intact males, monorchidism, where one testicle fails to develop.
