Olive

Meet Olive. She is arriving on Thursday 23rd April and is booked in to see Sarah at the Little Vet Company on Friday 24th along with our new boy Fudge.

This beautiful soul has had a terrible time in her so-called home, and has lots to sort out:

  • Her eyes are poor and have been left untreated, so she can’t see and bumps into walls 😥
  • Her ears are bad and scratchy
  • Her skin is bad and scratchy
  • She only has three teeth left at the front, and their condition is unknown
  • She needs spaying
  • She needs worming
  • She has a lump on her mammaries, which we hope is just fatty and benign – but we don’t yet know for sure

Olive wasn’t receiving treatment for any of these problems, and must have been in so much pain 😢 All of that changes now. We will do all that we can to make our dogs’ quality of life the best it can be. Once we have her medical needs under control, we will possibly be looking for a home – or if she needs on-going medical treatments then a long-term foster, which ever is best for her.

More pictures and updates will follow.

Fudge

Fudge was rescued from the pound (along with Gypsy) and is now ready to find his forever home.

  • Breed: Chihuahua / Jack Russell mix.
  • Sex: Male / Dog.
  • Age: He’s an older boy, but we don’t know his exact age.
  • Castrated: Yes.
  • Vaccinated: Yes.
  • Wormed: Yes.
  • Meeting: On first meeting, Fudge presents as super friendly with people and his tail never stops wagging!
  • Dogs: Fudge tested well and was happy to be approached and interacted nicely. He’s in foster with three other dogs (all bitches) and lives there happily with no issues. He can be a little more picky with dogs (males) in his territory, but he walks well with dogs when out on a walk.
  • Cats: Not tested.
  • Lead: Fudge loves to go for a walk, and strides out with pride and purpose ahead of you. He responds to commands, and being in front is not a issue. He is walked on a collar and a long line or flexi due to him wanting to go off to investigate everything.
  • Separation anxiety: Fudge has been left at home for a couple of hours with no issues at all.
  • Travel: Fudge has proven to travel well in a car – either settling in a crate or travelling on the back seat with no issues.
  • Noises: So far there have been no issues with noises – whether it be tractors with trailers banging down the lanes, or thunder, he doesn’t flinch and just gets on with life.
  • Food: Fudge loves his food – although his bowl can be removed if needed without any worries. He sits nicely whilst waiting for dinner to be prepared. When he first arrived, Fudge was very lean, so he has been having a couple of meals a day. He has now gained weight and levelled himself out with food. At present he is fed on a good quality kibble and wet food.
  • Health issues: Fudge arrived with several issues – the main concern being his teeth as they were causing him so much pain that he wouldn’t allow his mouth to be examined. A trip to the vet confirmed his teeth were in need of a dental as the decay was so severe.
  • Terrain: Fudge walks on all types of surface without a second glance: grass, tarmac, gravel, puddles etc.
  • Treats: Fudge takes treats nicely, and never pushes other dogs out.
  • Night time: Fudge has the run of the home but chooses to sleep the sofa.
  • House training: Fudge is totally clean in the house and will go to the door to let you know that he needs to toilet.
  • Toys: Fudge does like a teddy as you will see in the video!
  • Guarding: Fudge hasn’t exhibited any guarding issues around food, toys or his humans.
  • Handling: No issues with handling him; you can put your hands all over with no problems.
Overview

Fudge is proving to be a truly lovely, friendly boy who makes friends everyone and will steal your heart given the chance. He assesses his surroundings quickly and settles well. He isn’t a fretter and is more than happy to get on the sofa and sleep, but equally he is happy to be in the garden or outside with his humans.

He is a delight to have around and a easy dog to live with. He really is the most adorable funny loving little old man who wants to please.

Fudge will be great in a home with a dog for company and friendship, or as an only dog. We’d love his new owner to be someone who’s around most of the day, and who will give him regular walks since he’s still a sprightly boy.

Gypsy

Gypsy is approximately 12 years old and weighs 3.9 kg. She’s the sweetest little girl, with no issues: she allows you to pick her up and check her all over, she loves to cuddle up on your lap, she’s good in the house and good on a lead, she has proved excellent with other dogs and good with cats.

At the moment, Gypsy has a mammary lump, a slight heart murmur and bad teeth. She is booked in to have a dental, and her mammary lump removed, after which we hope to find her a lovely new home.
