Poisonous Foods & Plants

There are many common foods and plants that are toxic to dogs. Some of the most important and most frequently-overlooked ones are listed below. Please bear in mind, though, that this list is not exhaustive.

Acorns

It’s that time of year again when acorns will be flooding the ground and could be tempting to your dog. Did you know that acorns (and the entire Oak tree) are poisonous to dogs?

It’s important to remember the dangers of acorns when they are ingested, so this poster highlights the signs and symptoms of acorn poisoning for dogs:

  • Vomiting and/or diarrhoea that may be bloody
  • Drowsiness
  • Lethargy
  • Shaking
  • Itching
